MIMOSA PUDICA (2018)
Conceptual work for textile designer Svenja Boissel
Mimosa (mimosa pudica) is a plant that grows mainly in subtropical areas. In response to a touch, she folds her leaves so that only the bare stalks with the spines appear. This serves as a deterrent against "attackers".
Inspired by the function, Svenja has stuck to the simplest materials to represent the movement through the influence of the outside of the textile. As a result, soft and hard materials face each other, which can be changed in shape by external influences.
